Dr. Theresa A. Hurd


Dr. Hurd has guided nursing practice for more than 35 years with widespread and variant experience across wound care, critical care, trauma, chronic disease management, and oncology nursing. Dr. Hurd also holds a professorship in the graduate nursing department with a cross appointment to sciences, advanced pharmacology, and pathophysiology. She is a published author and has guided nursing practice across organizations both within acute care, critical care, and the community setting in Canada, Australia, the UnitedKingdom, and the United States. She has held a research appointment in a large county hospital in the United States and guided practice in that level one trauma center. Currently, Dr. Hurd works at Catholic Health System in Upper New York State as Systems Director ofInpatient Wounds and Diabetes. She is an international keynote speaker and presenter at conferences, education days, and other events throughout the world. She brings with her many years of experience in the development of in-depth adult education training programs for highly technical subjects, and successes with private sector and public sector organizations in Canada, the United States, Europe, England, and Australia.

Dr. Robert S. Kirsner


Dr. Kirsner is Chairman and the endowed Harvey Blank Professor in the Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is Chief of Dermatology at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and Jackson Memorial Hospital and directs the University of Miami Hospital Wound Center. Dr. Kirsner received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, his medical degree from the University of Miami, and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Miami, after he completed his clinical training. His clinical training included internal medicine and a clinical and research fellowship in wound healing and dermatology at the University of Miami. His research interests include Wound Healing and Skin Cancer Epidemiology. Dr. Kirsner serves on the editorial boards for a number of journals in dermatology and wound healing and serves in national leadership positions in both Wound Healing and Dermatology, including currently serving on the American Academy of Dermatology Board of Directors and the Wound Healing Society Board of Directors. In addition to career development awards, foundation, industry-sponsored funding, and CDC funding, he currently leads or is part of a number of NIH funded grants. Independent of books, book chapters, and abstracts, he has published more than 550 articles.
